The Project
The Diversity in Leadership Institute produced a detailed research study examining how school leaders of color retain teachers of color in successful public-charter schools. The organization needed a polished, multi-page report design capable of carrying the weight of the research—rich with data, interviews, and conceptual frameworks—while remaining easy to read, navigate, and reference.
The Challenge
With no editorial changes or content development required, the work focused on developing a visual system that would:
• Make a dense academic study approachable
• Support long-form reading without fatigue
• Highlight key findings without overshadowing the research
The objective was not to reinterpret the story but to design a framework that allowed readers to navigate the research with greater clarity.
The Outcome
The final report delivered a refined, publication-ready visual system that improved readability while preserving the original narrative and findings.
The finished piece supports DLI’s mission by making the study accessible to educators, policymakers, funders, and partners—while maintaining the integrity and nuance of the research team’s work.
